MAPPING IDEAS-META DESIGN

The Sustainability workshop run by Hana from Design Future introduced ideas of diversity and sustainability, and then we used Deptford High Street as a case study to analyse the site condition .The mapping tool comes from the idea of Metadesign, all the participators working as a team without any hierarchy.
The mapping kit including camera,blank paper,pin, string,
post-note,mark pen(all arranges of colour)
We were given a lists of tasks:
Part I.
1.Draw the first impression about Deptford high street
2.Draw the most important element what can represe
nt about Deptford High Street.
3.Think about the place link to the world
4.Imagine what it looks like in 20 years.
5.Link all the colour scenario to make up a story.
*Each task includes one specific colour*
Part II
1.Write down the key words on sticker paper.
2.Post them on a board with any order.
3.Pin the papers and then put strings between any two papers.
4.Analyze the relationship between two elements.

Visit the site give us a broad understanding of the site.
We use physical observations tool to map the site like vision, smell, hearing, touch and feel to record what I've seen in t
he place. Also work as a group, you are lead to see what you have ignored.
--->>Recording
We use camera to map the area, also some drawings, and after came back to studio we mapped
impressions which is far different from what we have sensed.
In this process, we are encouraged to find the KEY point in the site.
--->>Discussion
From this process, the group discussion play a main role to figure out something which is not clear, and from the talks you can wider understanding and different perspective from the other person.
